eHarmony Free Weekend!

Saturday, January 1st, 2011

eHarmony is offering a free weekend* cruise through their site to help you start the New Year right! Check them out through January 2nd, 2011, for free at at www.eharmony.com and shop to your heart’s desire at what I call the “Man Mall.”

Match.com Free 7-day Trial

I also recommend checking out Match.com* for a free 7-day trial at: http://www.match.com/promo/promopage.aspx?keyword=tryitout .

eHarmony.com vs. Match.com

You may find that many of the same people are on both sites, but the features each offer can differ. Match has a larger data base, but eHarmony boasts their ability to match your personality traits. Price wise, Match is less than eHarmony, but there are differences on their contracts and prices. Google both, do your home work, and don’t sign up for a contract longer then a month to begin with. Feel them out and see which one suites you the best.

Online Dating Tactics

In my book, “Stories From the Dating Trenches,” I offer several tactics on how to best take advantage of online dating, how to pre-qualify and speed up the screening process, safety tactics and more. Be sure to check out this essential dating manual and this site’s past dating blogs for other “intel.” Here are some pointers that are sure to help:

  • Keep all communications online through the dating website. If you’re dealing with a scammers, they’ll want to get you off the site ASAP so they aren’t traced and tracked by the site.
  • Always meet in a public place for the first few dates. You don’t want a psycho knowing your address or if you live alone.
  • Arrange for your first meeting to be brief, such as a cup of coffee. That way if he doesn’t turn out to be what he said he was, or there just isn’t any chemistry, you can get in and out of the date in a flash.
  • Never give out your home phone, only your cell. A home phone could be traced to an address, but a cell might be able to be blocked. Check with your carrier to see how to block your home address from your cell phone listing.

There are many more tactics and techniques on how to date successfully online in “Stories From the Dating Trenches.” Order your book today!

The holidays are the perfect time to scout for a date! Accept every party invite, reconnect with long-lost pals and expand your friendship network. You never know where “he” or “she” will show up

Here is one of my favorite holiday songs for singles. It’s clever, it’s peppy, it’s about dating, and it’s from the 80′s. How can ya NOT love this!? I couldn’t find an actual video of this song, but here is a karaoke-like version for your enjoyment…

Guido Challenge

Friday, October 15th, 2010

This cell phone add is brilliant! I think their tag line should be “So simple, even a guido can use it!”  This says it’s a dramatization, but these guys are so convincing, they should get an academy award!

Fairytale Romance?

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Where art thou Prince Charming? Perfect in every way, riding up on your white Mercedes, saving me from a life of solitude and another rousing round of Old Maid…

Okay, get over it already! No one needs to “save you,” and here’s the biggest shocker ladies: THE ARE NO PERFECT MEN.  Oh, and for any men reading this, there are no perfect women either.

Here is a great song from my new favorite, Sara Bareilles, called “Fairytale.” This song is hilarious!

Anjelah Johnson’s hilarious sketch on the nail salon and her manicurist’s take on why she’s boyfriendless. Yea, not a real word, but appropriate. I think I’ve gone to this salon too. Enjoy!

Sara Bareilles sings “King Of Anything”

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

I wonder how many bad relationships Sara Bareilles had to go through before she wrote “King Of Anything.” This brilliant tune is one of my new favorites, along with her other clever song “Fairytale.” I think “dating” is really just another word for “shopping.” You’ve got to try on several relationships to find the one that fits! Enjoy…

Tired of Kissing Frogs?

In writing “Stories from the Dating Trenches,” I met with several singles who asked me point blank: Why do I end up with undateable dates? Why can’t I find a boyfriend/girlfriend? The answer usually presents itself after I asked them a few simple questions.

What are those three magical queries? Drum roll please… Read More→
